What a Week !

WHAT A WEEK !

Last week was a big week here in the Southern Alps with the weather clearing for a few days just enough to help us with a few summits !

Early in the week Steve Bell summitted Mount Aspiring with Pip Lynch and Julia Aspinall (whose grandfather was in the 4th party to summit Mount Aspiring in 1929). Pete James and Brian O'Neill also summitted the mountain alongside Steve's team. They bivouaced on top of the ramp overnight and made it to the summit one minute before sunrise for a breathtaking start to the day.

Lydia Bradey and Gwen Linde summitted a little later via the northwest ridge's ramp route.

Thursday night Phil Penney, Abel Roche, Mark Stute and Greg Parker returned to Wanaka from an exciting ascent of Aoraki/Mount Cook via the Hooker Valley. They climbed the Porter Col route from the spectacular Empress hut and returned the same way.

We congratulate all of them wholeheartedly on a fantastic effort !

Our guiding schedule is easing up mid February onwards - access and conditions are excellent ... we'd love the opportunity to take you into the mountains.
