Are you comforatable skiing or boarding off-piste? Explored the backcountry and ready to take the ski or snowboard touring experience to the next level? This trip will create enduring memories and show you the full potential of the ski touring experience.
Ski touring doesn't come any more rewarding... Spend five days touring the glaciers and peaks of the Southern Alps far from any man-managed piste. And, acquire ski and snowboard touring skills along the way.
This tour is all about maximising touring turns but your guide will share his or her knowledge every step and turn of the way. You'll fly out after your tour more informed on :
- Trip planning and preparation
- Mountain navigation
- Technical ski/snowboard touring techniques
- Terrain identification and safe travel options
- Avalanche awareness and rescue training
- Fundamental mountaineering techniques
- Glacial travel and crevasse rescue
- Snow caving and emergency shelters
It'll go something like this... Fly in to your first hut above the Franz Joseph glacier. Dump your gear and tour around the glacier and surrounding peaks practicing the skills you are acquiring. Tour over to Pioneer Hut, enjoy the most spectacular alpine hut view you are likely to see and tour some more. More touring: Fritz range. Snow cave. Tour down. And, heli back to civilisation weary but energised by your unforgettable and rare mountain experience.
We'd love to take you to this spectacular mountain location and teach you the skills you need to enjoy alpine ski touring and ski mountaineering. Check out the trip details and contact us if you have any questions.
