What is the attraction of rock climbing? Have you ever watched primates effortlessly swinging through trees, or children on a jungle-gym and thought 'that looks like fun', with a glimmer of remembering just how much fun ? If you have, then you're close to understanding why rock climbing is so captivating.
Rock climbing is more than just fun, it's mentally and physically challenging. Once you're on the rock it's possible to achieve a state of mind where everyday concerns melt away and be left with a clarity of thought where anything seems possible. A sequence of movements initially considered impossible, will come together with the fluidity of a ballet dancer, the forward planning of a chess master. Trust me, it feels incredible going home tired, yet with tingling muscles maybe not used since school days. My guess is, at the end of the day you'll be planning your next stint on the rock.
Rock Climbing is available for corporate team building programs and school groups. Contact us directly for details.

| Ready to Rock (3 Days) |
| |
| Try a three day introduction and grounding in all the fundamental principles & techniques of rock climbing with your private group.
Now, clear your mind of the daily clutter and let me take you climbing. The warmth of the sun is on your back. You leave the ground by placing a foot on a tiny ledge, carefully transfer your weight onto it, there's a tensing of muscles, measured breathing. Now you're pulling on a hold out to the right. You're away! Staying in balance you stand up gently and move your left hand, millimetre by millimetre, to where a gas pocket in the schist beckons. Phew, it's a huge hold, a jug!
Now, looking up at your belayer, you grin. Having been so focused you haven't noticed that you're connected by a rope to someone you trust. They are there to protect you from a fall. The higher you get the more the exposure increases but it's just a needling in the back of your mind, as figuring out your next move leaves no room for fear. Now, secure in the knowledge you're safe, you look around. There are mountains, a river, a shining braid that you'll swim in later. This is perfection: sunshine, warm gritty rock, and good people.
Get your group together and book your private guide.

Sample itinerary for Multipitch Rock
Day 1 and 2 are run on the local Wanaka crags, where we will review all basic techniques and climb, climb and climb some more.
Day 3. Today the emphasis is on technical systems, especially building anchors and rescue systems, including the scenario of raising and lowering another injured climber as well as self rescue (prussiking). Also, we drive two and a half hours to camp overnight or stay at Unwin Hut near Mt Cook Village. Now we are poised to move to our alpine climbing venue Twin Stream. (This location is weather dependent - alternative locations are the Remarkables/Chinaman's Bluff.)
Day 4, 5 & 6. By helicopter from Glentanner Station, we are lifted effortlessly past scree and craggy peaks to be delivered below the impressive wall of the Twin Stream crag. In the afternoon after establishing camp we move onto multi-pitch climbing. Day 5 is a big day of multi-pitch climbing, returning to camp that evening. Day 6 Climb in the morning with a chance to go over anything you wish to refresh, such as natural anchors or raises & lowers. Mid-afternoon, we fly back to Glentanner Station and drive to Wanaka. |
