Paul Scaife: Soloing the Challenge (05-Nov-2003)
NEWSFLASH !
The 50 @ 50 Challenge continues... Paul Scaife is soloing the Challenge
requiring supreme concentration and mental toughness. Martin Hawes has
withdrawn due to illness.
Paul Scaife phoned yesterday from Conway Peak claiming his 24th peak. He also
climbed the South Face of Douglas with a group via a new route/variation
(according to Allan Uren).
His fundraising for Save the Children is going well - their website has photos
and more information http://www.savethechildren.org.nz/

First one in the bag ... a successful expedition ascent of Aoraki/Mount Cook
via Porter Col for Dave, Phil & James last week. The group walked in and out
via the Hooker. Phil Penney pulls it off for Aspiring Guides, yet again.

East-West Aspiring Expedition ... VACANCY [guided by Paul Scaife] Join us on
this unique adventure Nov 15-24. The route starts up the East Matukituki with
access to the Volta glacier either via Moncrief col or Ruth ridge. We will
cross the Volta and Therma glaciers to Colin Todd hut and if time and weather
permit, we will make an ascent of Mount Aspiring. Our route then crosses the
Bonar glacier, before dropping down into the West Matukituki Valley.

Put forth your aspirations, we will convert them to reality ...
