What's happening .....

The first Steep Alpine Ice Course for this summer gets underway on Sunday (ten days at Pioneer hut bashing ice). Next week we have excited climbers heading out to summit Aoraki/Cook via the Hooker Valley, and locked in for an ascent of Aspiring via the SW ridge afterwards. Conditions are great - we've organised for the strong westerly flow to peter out !

Summer Mountaineering Courses 

Summer Ascents

  • 4 day ascents (Earnslaw, Barth, Dixon, Minarets, Lendenfeld)
  • 4 day Mount Tutoko - superb granite in the Fiordland National park
  • 5 day Mount Sefton - classic NZ alpine climb, walking out to Welcome Flat
  • 5 day Mount Aspiring - majestic "Matterhorn" of the south, ideal first summit which also has technical routes
  • 6 day Mount Tasman  - NZ's second highest peak, more technical than Mt Cook via the Linda Glacier
  • 6 or 7 day Aoraki/Mount Cook options - several routes to choose dependent on how hard you want to push yourself
  • 6 day SF Douglas grade 5 - superb steep ice climbing on an aesthetic mountain
  • 7 day Mt Hicks grade 5 - has some of NZ's finest technical ice climbs
  • 7 day Summit Week - ascents program emphasizing on skills progression
  • 10 day Aspiring & Cook - climb the two most sought after peaks in NZ

Wilderness Trekking

  • 1 day Glacierburn trek - easy day walk
  • 1, 2, 3 day Black Peak alpine trek - stay at our private hut different options either fly-walk or walk-walk
  • 2 day Mount Aspiring Glacier trek - enjoy close up views of Mount Aspiring
  • 3 day Rainbow Valley - stay at a rock bivvy or tent for this challenging trek
  • 3 or 5 day Cascade Saddle - links two fabulous valleys in the Mount Aspiring National park
  • 4 day Copland Pass - classic trans-alpine crossing from Mount Cook village over to the West Coast
  • 7 day Five Passes wilderness trek - true wilderness ! moderate to hard grade.
