REMINDER!

Here's a reminder to book some time out in the mountains next summer.
We will be ready for cramponing in the southern alps from 1 October.
How about taking the edge off by hiring a guide?

Handy hints. We've added some tricks and tips from the guides "tricks and tips"

Sustainability, yeah, yeah. Find a list of climbing adventures on our website that involve only sweat - no helicopters. http://www.aspiringguides.com/eco_climbs_no_helicopters_.html

Climbing calendar.  Take the guess work out of what to do... a listing by month of what's on offer. http://www.aspiringguides.com/backcountry_calendar.html

Black Peak waterfall ice. Some spaces left on the last few courses in August. Go on, have a stab at it! Click here for video and course info

Steep alpine ice (SIC). You don't need a psychiatrist, you need us! 8 days of 300m long ribbons of squeaky dry alpine ice. Commences Oct 1. www.aspiringguides.com/advanced_courses.html

Steve Monks guiding in NZ's southern alps. From mid December to the end of January. Steve Monks is certainly the most famous international climber to have come out of his home town of Bristol, Steve now lives in Natimuk, Australia outside of the alpine season. He is renowned in the local climbing scene for an appetite for exploring and pioneering many climbs in some of Australia's wildest places - such as the incredible "Totem Pole" sea stack in Tasmania. Steve has climbed in the Alps almost every season since 1977, notable achievements including the first British ascent of the 'Supercouloir' and the second British solo (there have only been two!) of the Eiger Nordwand. He still climbs to an extremely high standard on both rock and ice - when climbing with him you can't fail to learn a lot and his boundless enthusiasm is sure to rub off! Bookings for Steve are currently open...

Ama Dablam 10th expedition (9 Nov - 9 Dec 08) is nearly full. Aspiring Guides director Marty Beare will be joining Caroline Ogden as a guide on this year's Jagged Globe Ama Dablam expedition. Steve Bell came back from leading last year's trip so full of enthusiasm for the climb that Marty couldn't resist doing it! It really is a fantastic route on one of the world's most stunning peaks. Marty would be thrilled if some of our climbers could join him. Steve Bell's 2007 photos http://www.aspiringguides.com/ama_dablam_nov_07_steve_bell.html Situated in the heart of Everest's Khumbu region, it lies directly above Thyangboche Monastery on the well-worn path to Everest Base Camp and is admired by thousands of trekkers and climbers every year. This expedition offers a superb, technical climbing experience in a magnificent setting, with numerous cultural and scenic diversions. http://www.jagged-globe.co.uk/exp/itinerary/ama+dablam.html
